How we design and install
your system

The same process whether it's a single heat pump or a commercial rooftop array, a conversation, a proper design, a tidy install, and someone who still answers the phone afterwards.

The process

Four steps,
no surprises

No stage of this depends on you having made a decision. You can stop after any of them.

01

Conversation

We start by understanding how you use energy, what you want to achieve and what your budget looks like. No obligation.

02

Design & quote

We design a system around your property and send an itemised quote you can actually read and compare.

03

Installation

Licensed electricians and accredited installers do the work, tidily, with the grid paperwork handled for you.

04

Ongoing support

Monitoring set up, questions answered, warranties managed. We stay contactable long after handover.

On site

Licensed, tidy,
and done properly

Every installation is carried out by registered electricians and accredited installers. We work around your day where we can, leave the site the way we found it, and walk you through the system before we go, then stay contactable long after.

System design

Two systems with identical panels can perform very differently. Layout, string configuration, inverter selection, shading and switchboard capacity all move the number, and none of them show up on a one-page quote. This is where we spend the time.

Site-specific yield modellingGeneration modelled month by month for your roof's actual orientation and pitch, so you can see the seasonal shape, not just an annual total.
Shading analysisTrees, chimneys, neighbouring buildings and your own roof forms. Shading decides whether you need optimisers or microinverters, or just a smarter layout.
String and inverter designHow panels are grouped and matched to the inverter affects performance for the life of the system. It's worth getting right the first time.
Switchboard and load reviewBoard condition, capacity, RCD protection and space for what's coming next. Found now, it's a planned cost; found later, it's a surprise.
Battery and EV headroomWe design assuming you may add storage or a charger, so those become straightforward additions instead of partial rebuilds.
Documentation and approvalsLayout drawings, single line diagram, equipment schedule and the grid connection application, prepared and submitted for you.
After the install

Ongoing support

A solar system is a twenty-five year asset. You should be able to ring the people who installed it and get a straight answer, in year one and in year twelve. Support isn't an add-on for us; it's most of the reason people recommend us.

Monitoring set up properlyConfigured, connected and explained, so you can tell at a glance whether the system is doing what it should, and so can we.
Warranty claims managedIf something fails under warranty, we deal with the manufacturer. You shouldn't have to argue with a supplier you never met.
Fault findingUnderperformance, inverter faults, comms dropouts, tripping circuits. We diagnose it rather than guessing at a replacement part.
Performance reviewsA periodic check that the system is generating what it was designed to, and that your self-consumption hasn't drifted as your usage changed.
System expansionAdding panels, adding storage, adding a charger. Straightforward if the original design allowed for it, and we'll tell you honestly if it didn't.
Orphaned systems welcomeInstaller gone? We'll take a look, tell you what you've got, and support it going forward where we can.
Common questions

Questions about the process

Can I get a design without buying a system from you?
Yes. Some people want an independent design to tender against, or are working with a builder who has their own electrician. Talk to us about what you need and we'll explain the scope and any fee up front.
Will you review a quote I've been given?
Happily, at no charge. We'll walk you through what's specified, what's been left vague, and whether the yield estimate looks realistic for your roof. You're under no obligation to use us afterwards.
Do you handle network and council approvals?
Yes. Grid connection applications and export approval with your network provider are part of the job. We prepare and submit the documentation rather than leaving it with you.
How do you model shading?
From site measurements and roof geometry, taking account of the sun's path through the year. Winter shading is often much worse than what you see on the day of the visit, which is why it's modelled rather than eyeballed.
Do you service systems you didn't install?
Yes. It's a good part of what we do. We'll assess what's there, tell you plainly what condition it's in, and support it going forward. We'll also be upfront if something is beyond economic repair.
My inverter has failed. What now?
First we confirm it's actually the inverter and not something upstream of it. If it is, and it's in warranty, we handle the manufacturer claim. If it's out of warranty, we'll set out the replacement options and costs before you commit.
How do I know my system is working?
Monitoring is the short answer, and a lot of people are never shown how to read it. We'll walk you through what normal looks like for your system in each season, so a real problem is obvious.
Do panels need cleaning?
In most Auckland locations, rain does the bulk of the work and cleaning is rarely worth paying for. Low-pitch roofs, coastal salt spray or heavy tree cover are the exceptions. We'll tell you if yours is one.
